About The Event

ISHTEDx is an annual event created in the spirit of TED’s overall message of “ideas worth sharing”. This event has been an integral part of the International School of Hyderabad’s annual events since 2016. Talented individuals across Hyderabad have come together to network, ideate, and present their insightful talks.

Our goal is to give young students a platform to share their passions, wisdom, experiences, and ideas. The event will encourage the sharing of beneficial skills for both audience and the speaker. Namely, critical thinking, open-mindedness, public speaking, and effective communication.

The location for this event is T-Hub in Hyderabad. According to their website, “T-Hub is an innovation intermediary and business incubator based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Based on the triple helix model of innovation, it is a partnership between the Government of Telangana, three academic institutes in Hyderabad, and the private sector.” T-Hub is an ecosystem that enables out-of-the-box thinking and collaboration through sharing ideas. The goals of T- Hub aligns with the TEDx mission statement and supports the mission of our event.

Speakers

Nitya Manoj Kumar

My name is Nitya Manoj Kumar, and I am in the 11th grade at the International School of Hyderabad. I study higher level (HL) English, Music and History, alongside standard level ESS (Environmental Systems and Societies), French B and Math AA. As an English HL student, I’m always in love with words and language. Being a closeted polyglot, I can speak around 3 Indian languages and am learning one more, English, studying French at school, and through my love for anime and Japanese culture, a bit of Japanese too (Test me on the day!).

I am interested in how language is linked with propagating values and culture, and its importance, especially when in our current social media times, our language and appreciation of a language, or words themselves, is at threat. I hope my talk serves as a reminder of the power of language, and all it encapsulates that online replacements of it cannot recreate.

A simple girl with a heart so kind and true,
With charity, she makes dreams come through.
In her presence, beauty finds its grace,
A lovely soul, with a shining face.

Vibhuti Jain, an Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, and dreamer, is proof that dreams can come true through dedication and hard work.

Coming from a small town and a Hindi-medium education, Vibhuti's inspiring journey took her from humble beginnings to founding PrimeDesk, a mission-driven venture dedicated to creating ideal workspaces for entrepreneurs.

Alongside her entrepreneurial endeavors, she established the "Touch a Life Foundation," a non-profit organization committed to empowering less-privileged girls through education and support.

Vibhuti's story serves as a powerful reminder that there are no limits to what one can achieve, no matter where they start. Join her on a journey of exploration and possibilities.

About TEDx

What is TEDx?

What is TEDx? In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Our event is called TEDxISH, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxISH event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, often in the form of short talks delivered by leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED Conferences, intimate TED Salons and thousands of independently organised TEDx events around the world. Videos of these talks are made available, free, on TED.com and other platforms. Audio versions of TED Talks are published to TED Talks Daily, available on all podcast platforms. TED's open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; TEDx, which licenses thousands of individuals and groups to host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities; The Audacious Project, which surfaces and funds critical ideas that have the potential to impact millions of lives; TED Translators Program, which crowdsources the subtitling of TED Talks so that big ideas can spread across languages and borders; and the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED also offers TED@Work a program that reimagines TED Talks for workplace learning. TED also has a growing library of original podcasts, including The TED Interview with Chris Anderson, WorkLife with Adam Grant, Far Flung with Saleem Reshamwala and How to Be a Better Human.
